KVKK & Data Ethics
The Eye is an observational art installation. This page explains what we process, what we do not store, and how your data is handled in line with KVKK (Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Kanunu, Turkish Personal Data Protection Law).
What we do not store
- No photographs, video recordings, or facial images are saved.
- No biometric data (face geometry, iris scans, etc.) is collected or retained.
- No raw camera footage is archived after the live observation moment.
What happens during observation
The Eye observes passers-by in real time. What is visually present (clothing colours, general appearance, posture, and mood) is interpreted on the spot and converted into a text-based description. That text is then used to generate a vector avatar displayed at the installation. The process is interpretive, not photographic.
What we store
- A short text profile describing why the avatar was created (the explanation shown on this site).
- Non-identifying metadata: time of observation, general location within the installation.
- The generated avatar asset used for the artwork, derived from text, not from a stored image of you.
KVKK and your rights
Under KVKK (Law No. 6698), you have the right to know whether your personal data is being processed, to request information, correction, or deletion of data concerning you, and to object to processing. Because we do not store photographic or biometric data, the retained information is limited to the text descriptions described above.
To exercise your rights or ask questions about this installation's data practices, contact the project team at TEDU during the event period (Sept 8–16).
Purpose & retention
Data is processed solely for the artistic purpose of The Eye installation and the creation of the final collective artwork. Text profiles are retained for the duration of the exhibition and may be removed after the event concludes, unless required for the published digital artwork documentation.
Consent
By passing through the installation area, you enter a space of public artistic observation. If you followed the link from the installation, you arrived here voluntarily. No image of you is kept. Only the textual interpretation that produced your avatar and the explanatory text on this page.
